D.S. PHILLIPS is a translator, literacy teacher and church planter who holds multiple degrees in both Intercultural and Biblical Studies.
He and his family have been living in Indonesia for nearly a decade, laboring to see unreached people groups have their first opportunity to hear about their Creator and what He has done for them.
They have spent most of their time living and working among the very remote Dao tribe, a people group that before they arrived had no written alphabet for their dialect, not a single verse of scripture available to them and no church or religious organization of any type working among them.
D.S. Phillips and his wife continue to live primarily in the remote jungles laboring to see the entirety of God’s Word translated into local languages and working to see tribal believers discipled and trained as teachers to their own people and other unreached areas.
D.S. Phillips sincerely believes that every believer in this generation has a responsibility to reach out and play a part in seeing each and every tribe, language and people group reached for the glory of God.
It is his sincere desire that God will use Prophecies Of Pale Skin to remind our generation that God is still doing incredible things in the deepest, most remote and unreached areas of this world for His own glory and that we have the awesome and exciting privilege of being a part of it.
More information about the Dao tribe and the work D.S. Phillips and his family are doing to spread the Gospel in Indonesia can be found at http://sjphillips.org.
Imagine the surprise that two young Americans felt, when after stumbling across a stone-age people group in the jungles of Indonesia, they were told by the tribesmen that they were the fulfillment to prophetic dreams given a full generation before their arrival.
In Prophecies of Pale Skin you will be both challenged and inspired as you read about how a young couple was changed by the hardships and victories they experienced in living among the Dao tribe. You will see how these foreigners were inspired by the prophecies, dreams, beliefs and culture of that remote people group and also how the tribes people themselves were changed by prophecies that the young travelers carried to them from the other side of the world.
"This is an amazing, well written story; I could not put it down. I was amazed at the authenticity and faith of the author. You will both laugh and cry as you are challenged to define or redefine what faith means and looks like... An amazing book, I am thankful I had the opportunity to read it." - Ronnie Calugar
"This is a fantastic book. There are a lot of missionary stories out there but this is the newest and most relate-able one I've read. The couple and their story are very personally compelling, the way the story of their work is told is really excellent in teaching missiology without being dry and boring, and the Papuan tribal life is really fascinating. And, above it all, God at work!" - Kacie Mann
"Following two young people as they answer the call to bring the Gospel to people who have never heard the name of Jesus made for an absolutely captivating read. Their experiences are incredible...the author makes you feel as though you are right there - from the stress & anxiety of crossing rope bridges & river rapids, to the sublime joy of the people as they realize for the first time that the Creator loves them & they can have eternal life! I would recommend this book to everyone, whether they are believers or not. There are lessons here for us all." - Janice Claxton
"I thought the way the author told about their life in the highlands of Papua made you feel like you were there experiencing the difficulties as well as the joys with them. I know the difficulties they faced are real. We need more people like them who will count it a privilage to serve their Savior in this way." - Paul D. Rasmussen
"It was amazing what GOD did in their lives. I couldn't put the kindle down... Looking forward to next book. It was a blessing to me. I would recommend this book to everyone!" - Barbara Goldstrom
"This is a great book, hard to put down. It really shows the life of a missionary and how the native people see them. Once people read this they want to pass it on to their friend to read." - Ellen Morrison
"Want a really great book - get this one!!! This is, without a doubt, one of the more remarkable books/stories I have ever read. The true story is of a couple who went to a primitive group of people in Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, who had never seen a white person before... The way they lived and the impact they have had on this people group is profound and much to be admired!!! It is definitely a "can't put down" book... I would recommend the book to anybody who wants a good and an inspiring read." - Maryanne Peterson
"Prophecies of Pale Skin is an incredible testament of the power of the Holy Spirit who prepared the hearts of people on different sides of the globe to coincide for the purpose of making the name of Jesus Christ great. This well written book documents the incredible journey....The author does a terrific job of weaving humor, excitement, joy and fear as he tells of the struggles he and his wife faced to not only reach the Dao people but also while learning their language and customs....I would strongly recommend this book for readers of all ages and of all walks of life. It is very easy to read and will keep you engaged throughout. I found it building my faith while challenging me to renew my commitment to play a part in sharing the Gospel. Whether you are in the remotest of jungles or a sprawling urban city the book is a great encouragement." - David
"The book is an excellent read. I urge anyone who wants more out of life to pick it up. I have bought the book for myself, and now am getting another copy to share with friends. The world is much bigger than our daily routines would lead us to believe. There is a much more important job to be done than the one that results in a mere paycheck." - Druski
"For me personally, Prophecies of Pale Skin encouraged me, inspired me, and many times brought me to tears as I read over and over again how God faithfully brought them through challenge after challenge to do what by human terms seemed impossible... "but with God all things are possible". I could relate to them on a personal level, a young couple inadequate for the job..that stepped out in faith.... I'm so thankful for this book God is going to use to show His power to many. I also am praying that many, along with myself, will step out in faith do to the impossible because of this heart gripping story." - Koola Stachofsky
"Prophecies of Pale Skin is a book that will challenge you in your faith and encourage you to step forth and allow God to use you. There are moments of great trials and great humor throughout the pages of this book. Seeing how God is making Himself known to the Dao people...has helped me to pray more effectively. God is doing some amazing things and this book really brings those things to light. If you read this book, you will not be disappointed." - Mike Reynolds
"You need to buy this book! The work that the author and his wife are doing is amazing and by buying this book, you can help become part of it. If you are looking for a book about missionaries, this is the book! It was through this family that I found the Missionary organization Helimission that I want to fly with. You won't regret buying and reading or sharing this book." - Anthony P. Riley
